FE rockers... Ford or aftermarket?
« on: July 13, 2017, 07:10:23 AM »
Can anyone identify these? These are my most recent ebay score. They appear to be brand new, sold as a used set of FE adjustable rockers. The shafts are trash but stands are fine. I bought these as extras to add to one set I already purchased. Was going to pick the best 16 of the bunch. These don't look anything like the Ford rockers I have.

Those look alot like the old TRW (44019) r6eplacements.  I have a full set of those new in the TRW boxes.

Thanks. They sure do. I know there were some aftermarket rockers back in the day. I think Isky had a set, and maybe Crane?

If you're planning on using those for your FE project, you really need non-adjustable rockers if you're gonna do a traditional hydraulic roller cam with hydraulic roller lifters.  The non-adjustable rockers are much lighter and go a long way towards pulling more rpm.

   Scott ,
"Sometimes" Ford outsourced parts like this and after Ford quit buying them , the manufacturers were allowed to make them for the aftermarket. I apologize if you already know this. They would typically remove the Ford logo ( not always and these never had one) and remove or alter the Ford part number ( which these never had either) True Ford sourced rockers did have more numbers cast into them than these but it was not a conventional Ford part number. Isky's were a different casting altogether ( Gotha Manufacturing made them I believe) and IIRC Crane re tapped the threads on the Ford style rocker and used a different adjuster with a jam nut.

I seem to remember three rocker arm suppliers for TRW, Sealed Power, and Federal-Mogul based upon the data that was on the prints.  Not sure if any of them are still active - or even in business at all after a dozen years.  Going by (fading) memory they were Trayer, Sandco, and Wells.  I think Sandco was Canada based and did castings - so they might be the best bet for source.
