4R70W to FE
« on: May 01, 2017, 03:42:57 PM »
Does anyone have experience with using this Quick Time bell with a 4R70W?

https://www.holley.com/products/drivetrain/bellhousings/bellhousings/parts/RM-9058

I keep flopping back and forth between a coyote/6R80 package or 4R70W behind an FE for my daughter's '70 F100. I'm back on the FE theme for the moment. I like the 4R70W and they can be had reasonably cheap.

I can't find anyone who has done this bell.

Yes, I believe so. Hacking the bell off isn't a problem, but I don't know about the bolt holes.  If there are already holes in the tranny to line everything up, no problem. If I have to machine the holes, I'm SOL because I don't have a machining center here at the house.
This is why I like it when companies make their installation instructions available. I guess I'll start looking at pictures of 4R70W trannys closer...

Also, anyone have experience with the aftermarket stand-alone controllers for these?
