WTB: 427 hydraulic block
« on: December 11, 2016, 02:44:01 AM »
    Hey guys,

A few months ago, I bought a 427 block that doesn't have lifter oil gallies. Wasn't exactly what I wanted because I think the appropriate cam for my application is hydraulic. But, I kinda gave into using a small solid. The problem now is this is an early block and I have a 68 car. This block doesn't have the correct mounts. Wow, I have all the FE info at my finger tips and this slipped past me....ugh.

Back to looking for a block. Must have later mounts and accept a hydraulic cam.

I will probably sell my 427 block if I could get what I paid for it which was $2000. It has a 4.25 bore. Cylinders look strait.  1, maybe 2 oil pan rail repairs. Missing cross bolts and spacers.  I was planning to do a light hone and assemble the engine.  If I can't sell it, it will go in my 64 Marauder.

   thanks,
      Mark

Mark, FYI, it bolts right in, it just only uses 2 bolts of the Mustang Cougar block plates

My 489 has been that way since 2007 and for 6 years before it as a 433 have been pulling hard on the mounts and never an issue

No pictures of my block yet.

I figure at this point with wrong mounts and wrong cam type, I might as well get the appropriate block before going any further.
