I thought of that also for OHV FE. Could lock the distributor and incorporate the engine module from a base model, all manual 5.4 2001 F-250. I have worked with younger techs who were big on assigning false values to run an engine in what ever car they wanted. One tech had a Cadillac 4.9 in his 5 speed Pontiac Fiero.

Just a guess as to why Jay doesn't, but you'd have to make some special brackets to mount them to the valve cover. Besides that, who wants to dirty up such a beautiful engine with 8 ugly coils mounted all over it? ;D

And he's not using a distributor, except to run the oil pump. Fully programmable timing via a crank sensor.

Yes, brackets, wiring harness, injectors, ect. Figured they were a given. Like Doug though, when I think about how cluttered it would look I loose interest. They might appear more at home centered on a wide head like what we are used to seeing.

Doug is right, I think that mounting coils on those beautiful valve covers would be nearly criminal!  Besides, I like the way the blue plug wires look, and with 8 coils there is more than enough time to charge and fire through the 1 foot long plug wires without any worry about a misfire due to ignition.
