UPDATE.i took my driverside header all the way off my comet today.the cylinder in question,no 7.i wouldnt sure if it was a header leak or engine noise,i know now.there is a hole about the size of a pinto bean about 6 inches from where the header meets the head.im going to try to weld a patch over it for now,if i dont blow a bigger hole in it trying to fix it.there pretty thin, being 36 years old.i guess i will order a new set if the patch dont hold.

i gave 215 dollars in 1982 for them.at the time a set of sbc headers was on the sign outside for 59 dollars.the guy behind the counter felt so bad about the price,he knocked off the taxes. i guess thats only 34 years not 36,their practically new

i put a patch over the hole in my header today.it turned out ok.i found out why i had a hole ,my engine mounts have a sharp edged corner sticking out,and when i backed out of my driveway too fast i drug my headers backwards into the corner of that engine mount.ended up with a hole there

glad it turned out ok. 1n 1980 I bought a set of black jacks for a sbc. & indeed they were $59. for $215. you could buy 2 sets of long cast 427 headers at Carlisle. Boy were my priorities wrong. And in 1980 I passed on a boss 9 for 6k at said Carlisle. Oh well.

i put my header on and hooked it to my 3 inch x pipe and exhaust.ahhh the sweet sound of a fe going through a 3 inch duel exhaust with no leaks..man i could have swore i had a gremlin in my engine with a hammer beating on my parts.that hole in my header sure made it sound like a medal on medal noise.

way back in the 70s , I had a truck with headers on it , burnt a hole in the collector , took the truck to an old welder and he gas welded a Prince Albert can on it , no more problem , man , could that guy weld .
