Hi-Perf TIRE COMPARO , had no idea tires varried so much
« on: January 11, 2016, 02:47:58 PM »
Planning on tires got complicated real fast.  I thought all hi-performance tires were very similar. Personally I deducted the "value of wet surface traction" because I don't believe I'll be doing much wet driving...  This test is over three-years old.......

this racing tire test is over five years old

Something to remember IF you have larger tires in rear vs front, a front "spare" tire size is useless on the rear. Running down the highway with "stagger" on any kind of locking rear could hurt something in relatively short order.

I run the continental DW  and love them , and the price on tire rack , compared to the others is excellent

I run the M/T ET Street Radials on the back and M/T Sportsman fronts on the Fairlane. Radial in the rear, bias in the front, no problems. ET Streets are "ok" to drive in the rain also. For my daily driver '03 Vic, I have Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. One of the best all weather tires IMO.

I have used the Pilot Sports on my Lincoln LS/ECTA car since I wore out the original tires in about 2006. The comments in the article are accurate. They wear out fairly fast, being gone in 35-40K miles. But the traction, both in a straight line and in the twisties, is EXCELLENT. The car is rock steady at 150MPH +.
