I've looked at that picture a bunch of times but until you posted it I never noticed the front wing before.  That's pretty cool; never seen that on any T/F dragster.  Probably didn't work, though  ::)

They did work as many T/F dragsters of the era did add same after the cars were initially built.  Sadly, Robinson took the experimentation a bit too far as the under engine 'tray' as I'll call it lead to his demise. The pics in this link show the front tire disintegrating as result of too much load on what were essentially bicycle grade tires. Then, per an NHRA review I read after the fatal crash, the spindle broke, putting the dragster under the guard rail, killing him instantly. A great innovator and a tragic loss.

That is the dragster currently under full restoration at Don Long's west coast shop as a cacklefest entrant.
