RUG-S Toploader For Sale
This transmission is in excellent overall condition. It has been stored away for the last 20 years. The RUG-S Toploader was used on a number of Hi- Performance Ford cars including the 1967/8 Shelby GT500 and 1968.5 CJ Mustang. However a more significant point may be that the RUG-S transmission (code5) was installed on the first 50 “135” VIN CJ Mustangs. The transmissions were stamped on the front right corner of the main case with the last 6 digits of the VIN found on the car. For example: unit 8F02R135019 would have been stamped 135019. The transmission I have for sale is stamped 135019. This car (8F02R135019) was delivered to Tasca Ford in East Providence R.I. The car apparently still exists somewhere as it was a no sale at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee in 2013. I have spoken with two current owners of “135” CJ Mustangs to verify the stamping location of the partial VIN found on the transmission, so I am fairly sure my information is accurate. The transmission is in excellent working order but is sold as is. I also have the Hurst shifter unit, mounting plate, rods, and hardware that came with the transmission when I got it. Those parts are included in this sale. It is available for inspection in Southeastern, CT. at your convenience.
