G'day all, long time no post.
I've been busy over the last few months rebuilding a 428 for my Gal project. The motor came out of a 69 mustang and was a runner when I got it, showing 145 to 160 compression. Once I got it home though i had a peek down the plug holes and discovered rust in most of the bores. The motor had been sitting stationary for a long time with moisture in it. That was the excuse I needed to freshen it up
.
I sent the block to my machinist and .030 bore, .010 deck and a hone align of the main tunnels later she was ready to put back together. I was going to use the Edelbrock performer heads and intake, mainly for the weight saving, but when I went to order the heads they had performer RPM heads on special so I got them instead. Speed pro pistons with (I think) a 10cc dish. Stock rods and crank and the cam is a Comp 262H flat tappet hydraulic unit.
I may have to change the cam to something with a little more duration to drop the dynamic compression ratio. Static compression calculates to about 10.2 to 1 and may be a little too high, I'll just have to see how she runs. Anyway enough of my ranting, here's some pix.
