Another cool project....
« on: March 12, 2015, 09:35:13 PM »
Stopped at another good friends house today to check out a project he's been working on since he retired. He's just finishing this one up after years of work. He started with a pretty rusty truck and had to fabricate a lot of special pieces to get this one to come together. It's an old '55 C-750 COE on a 1991 E-350 van chassis that's been shortened and still runs the FI 460 engine. It took LOTS of fabrication to make this thing work and get everything to gel and look proportionate. I think it's turned out great and looks just like it could have come from the factory this way, except for the wheels. But even the wheels look good on this thing. It's just downright cool as heck!! Can't wait to see it hauling down the road.

Kevin, he is very talented. His Dad was an old-school car builder. The lead and tin type, no bondo, and VERY talented (and a Ford man!). This guy is/was a tig welder by trade and used to build his own sprints. A real good guy. He did all the fab work by hand and there's way too much on this thing to even list.

And yes, it would look SUPER cool with a cammer in it, if it had a plexiglass cover inside the cab!! That never even crossed my mind.

It would be interesting to see a cammer in there as the 460 is a tight fit. I`m doing a 56 C600 COE like that and was going for a diesel but now opting for a 410, also I`m running the stock wheels and running gear. It will be a big pickup when done.

The 460 does make it a bit tight for the passenger. The drivers side is no worse than the vans set-up though. Lima engines are just big honkin engines, much more than the original Y-block.

And Bob (that's his name, by the way), he's chomping at the bit to get it on the road. Gotta wait for the salt to get washed off now. Since he just lives down the road, I'll get to see it quite often, so I'll get some good shots of it this summer.
