So i am looking to buy a 351C torquer modified for the FE Intake Adapter, and i wonder about how low and RPM it will function for semi-daily driving with a 416 and either a 224* (hyd) or a 232* (solid) flat tappet cam?

The car is a 4200 pound curb weight 1964 Galaxie, currently with a 3.5 rear gear/TopLoader.  I could go lower, but if i do i might want to install my T85 OD trans.

Should i really be looking at an RPM intake?

Thanks.

I'd say the RPM is tough to beat for a street car, but the KOOL factor of Jay's  piece and the Torquer
is a couple of notch's up the eye candy scale.
Performance wise can't be a big difference in the 400 to 450 HP range. Just a WAG though.
The RPM with the name filed off and painted blue looks pretty stock.

Did you see this post in the FE Intake Adapter thread in the Member projects section?  It has dyno data comparing the two intake manifolds:

http://fepower.net/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=683.msg11018#msg11018

The 351C Performer RPM is a good 30 foot pounds better than the Torker in the lower RPM ranges.  Especially with the cam you are looking at, I think I'd go with the Performer RPM.

Jay, a special section on the main page of the forum just to gather all your dyno tests would be a great addition to the forum, I think. As the forum grows and more threads are added it can become more difficult to find these tests and threads. They're such great information it's a shame to see them become buried and less accessible to people who join and have no idea that they are even there. Just a thought.

I'm not positive, but I don't think there is a Torker II for the 351C 4 bbl. I'm not sure there is a 2 bbl version either.  I think there is just the Torker.  The Torker (Torquer?) II's were later intakes with smallish runners designed for 302's 351w's, and 385 series Fords.  Mostly unremarkable except for the 385 series version which is a very good intake with low height.

From my reading, the Holley Strip (not street) Dominator is the hot vintage intake for the 351C 4 bbl.  At least within the street/strip to full strip arena.  That's what I'd be looking for.  People know it's the one though, so prices tend to be high unless you get lucky.

I picked up a Torker just for startups and such on my PSE, as I will be running a TR and MFI on mine, startup/run-in with a single 1850 is pretty safe. Price wasn't bad and I have a  Bridgeport to trim it, so easy-peasy. I had a Torker and a 780 on a 71 Mach1 351C-4V, ran good revved up, but wasn't what you'd call a stump puller- but then the C-4V never was. If you're looking for an actual driver, you can probably do better

I do have some of them on the main web site page, here:

I haven't kept the results updated at all though; I need to do a better job of that...

I think it's still the old Torker.  It says Torker II on the page heading and the just Torker underneath it.  I think it just has Torker on the manifold itself.  I guess it doesn't really matter if it has the "II" on it.  What I'm getting at is I do think it is the older style manifold which is not a bad thing.

My understanding is the old 351C 4 bbl Torker is a fine manifold, preferable in some situations to the Holley Strip Dominator.  Plus it doesn't have the funky mounting pad.

I think the Performer RPM might be the right choice for the original poster, though.
