Flexplate / reinforcement ring question???

I am about to put my FE 390  stroker motor and C6 together and am not sure about weather I need the reinforcement ring that goes with the flexplate or not?
I have a flexplate off of a 1966 390. It looks to have the markings that a reinforcement ring was used with this flexplate.
Now the 390 flexplate is neutral balanced. I am assuming that the reinforcement ring would also be neutral balanced as well.
At this point I don't have a ring but am thinking I should have one for added strength.
Is there anything else I'm missing here?
I am using a block spacer plate between the motor and the bellhousing as well.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You need the ring, good chance you could crack the flexplate without it. The same ring was also used on MEL motors ( 430/462 ) and early 429/460's so they are not too hard to find. They are obsolete at Ford so you can't order a new one, but if you have a dealer nearby you could check, they may have one on hand because they came in a package with multiples. Part number is B9AZ-6A366-B. Also when assembling your motor check the length of your flexplate bolts - if too long they can extend past the crankshaft flange and hit the block. If you can't find one locally run an ad here, good chance someone can help you.
