So, I have been having lots of trouble with vapor lock and decided to replace my fuel hose, which is leaking after a short engine fire anyway, with metal lines that I will insulate with thermal sleeving. I was just going to buy some at a local parts store, and try my luck at bending it, and then I realized, I have a complete parts car that has that original part. Bolts right to the carb, no filter, and is pre bent just about perfectly for my use.
So, I was starting to wrench it off the carb, when I started thinking, I am going to need to cut it anyway. So, the plan is, instead of wrenching it out and having it complete, cut it out with a pipe cutter and leave the original fittings in place to the carb via the filter. And then I will have a little bit of rubber, connecting the, now sleeved metal line to the carb and the fuel pump.
Also, on the parts car, fuel "hose" with clamps could be used to hook that all back up, if someone was ever so inclined.
Does that sound like a good plan?
