T&d race rocker set up?
« on: July 08, 2014, 04:11:20 PM »
I am setting things up so I can measure up my pushrods from Barry and I am a little confused on how to properly shim and set up my T&D race rockers.my first question would be on the base does the tapered edge face the valves or intake? The directions are kinda vague at best, any advise? Thanks guys.

The T+D rockers come with a gauge to set up rocker height with their shims.  I tried that and didn't like the pattern on the valve stem tip so I didn't use the gauge and just did trial and error to get the height and set it up the way I wanted.

I think you can see the way the base piece goes on in the photo:

I could use a little machinist die for that, which way did you point the bevel on the base? It looks like it faces the valve by the notch in the end that would line up with tho oil return? Ahhh ha I just figured out where the shim goes as it only fits under the stand with the 7/16 bolts. Sorry I hate to be annoying but I just do not get it???

I thought the last photo showed the orientation but I guess not.  Went to the 100* garage just now and pulled a valve cover for this photo to show the orientation of the base metal bar.

Got one side done, took me forever to find my toque wrench LOL. The other side will be easy now that I have it figured out, I ended up using the thin shims and had to dig up some 1/8 washers from a head bolt set I had and all was good. I had to install the washers under the base to level out the head bolt bosses. Now the push rods, intake and accessories.
