Shelby Super Snake
« on: May 01, 2014, 09:43:35 PM »
On TV now, but looks like a repeat, is a show called Americarna on Velocity Channel. They're touring Don Prudhomme's shop and looking at his old race cars. In the background is the Shelby Super Snake dragster complete with Cammer. I didn't know the car was still around. Anyone know anything about it currently?

Brent Hajek has owned it for quite a few years. A light restoration was done, and an engine was built and run before it went to the NHRA museum for a few years. More recently it was used in the "Snake and Mongoose" movie, and after Don wanted to be involved in a more complete restoration. They are currently working on it and Ed Pink is even involved.

I've seen a video of the engine being run in the car before it was delivered, words can't even describe how awesome it was.

More pics here. The shot of Prudhomme in the lights was and is still an iconic shot as noted.

Funny though when I read this post. Folks back then, and many a car rag, mainly called it Prudhomme's dragster, less so the Shelby Super Snake. Don't know why.........
