« on: April 08, 2014, 08:53:17 AM »
Would a set of C6AE-R heads stock make more power on my 390 then my C8AE-H heads? I hear the buzz poor mans CJ head and was wondering if it would be worth buying a set if I found them cheap enough. Thanks Chris

You can buy them on the cheap. If you do some port work to them... They can make some great power! JMHO

Box stock the c6aer heads flow more on the intake... It's my belief that the c8aeh has a better chamber... Exhaust ports are comparable... Ported form with cj sized valves the c6aer intake port is better at higher lifts than the c8aeh port but at the lower lifts the c8aeh can be made to out flow the c6aer... It all depends what you want the engine to do... And your cam selection... Let's just say it's all in the combo...  I would pick up the c6aer heads if they are in good shape and cheap... Good luck

Yes, the C6 exhaust ports have the floors filled in like the C1 and C4 heads but have a lip at the exit of the roof to mate with the lower style exhaust manifolds (GT mainly)
Just by carving that lip out you end up with a C4AE-G head but with provisions for 14 or 16 bolt exhaust patterns.

The C8AE-H exhaust port is full of lumps and bumps and is lower. I think they have the better intake port by filling in the dead are of the floor of the older heads.
