what is the difference between a car 428, and a big truck 428 engine/

There is no 428 big truck block that I know of, do you mean a 391 FT block with 428 cylinder cores?

No such thing as a 428 Truck.... But you can transplant one in there like I did LOL

The only reason I ask, I've seen old ford 2 ton trucks that have 428 on the hood.

Likely from an engine transplant.....or from spending a few bucks for 428 badges. You can buy "427 SOHC" badges and stick 'em on your lawn mower if you want  ;)

When Ford phased out the FT 361 and 391, they replaced them with 370 and 429 cube truck engines.I have seen plenty of 2 to 5 ton style Ford trucks with "370" and "429 4v" emblems in the grille.Any chance you were just mistaken about the emblem?

Heavy trucks had a 427 FT, wish I would have had one of them for my build. Simeze bores, thicker webbing, thicker walls and thicker deck. There were a lot of the same blocks that used a 390 bore also making the walls thicker yet. Many went in garbage trucks......Jon

427 FT!? You mean 331, 361 & 391 FT.....

I know of industrial 427 & 428 but none of those (that I'm a where of) are FT's......

Scrub ( none of my friends use the "C" word ) had a 427 Heavy truck motor, not Ford.

SOME FE marine engines are counter-rotating. Among other things, that requires a 'backwards' turning starter. They look just the same. And if you try to use one on your freshly dyno-mounted engine, the result is a couple of hours trying to find out why the engine won't start! (It started instantly after we changed the starter.)
