I have no idea why Edelbrock chose to make the radiator hose outlet so large, I have never had a FE that used that large of a hose. I have had 2 Edelbrock FE water pumps, one for my Fairmont drag car, the other is on the 428 in my 59. I could never find a molded hose that would work, so I ended up having to stretch a normal sized hose enough to be able to (barely) force it over the Edelbrock water pump. I put the end of the hose in a pot of boiling water, to make it more pliable, and after about 20 minutes, and with a healthy application of silicone spray inside the hose, I forced a tapered glass soda bottle into the hose, as far as it would go. I then let it set overnight, and repeated the procedure again the next day, this time the bottle went in a bit further, and let it set overnight again. afterwards I was able to soak the hose with more silicone spray, and finally be able to force the hose onto the pump, while twisting it into position. It fit so tightly, that when I pulled the engine out of the car a couple of years later, I left the hose on the water pump, and removed it from the radiator. It has been in place for 5 years now, and has had no issues with the hose. It would be nice if Edelbrock made the pump end smaller , so a regular hose would fit normally, or if there was a way to reduce the diameter of it, but not aware of a way to do that.
