Holley Sniper Ignition Signal - Need Advice
« on: September 20, 2023, 02:21:23 PM »
I have the Sniper unit installed in our Cougar, I currently have the ignition signal wire landed on a wire that's hot all the time just to get the car running. I need to find a source that is hot while the key is both on and cranking. The only place I can think of is the coil wire, but there are warnings all over Holley's manual not to use the coil because of interference issues.

Does anybody have a better idea where to grab switched power from? I have read guys online that have used a relay and used both ignition switch wires to trigger it, but that sounds like a wiring mess I don't want to get into.

The pink wire. Cut or don't cut. I cut the pink wire out long ago, a few times.  ;)
I use it to trigger a Painless relay and stand alone power supply for various things. Ignition CD box, fan, gauge lights etc.
I would imagine a efi unit would need a couple of switched power supplies.
You definitely want the efi unit and ignition on a switched source for safety.
