I am sizing up a 4.375" stroker crank in a 390 D3TE block. Very preliminary review shows that I won't have any contact points. I say very preliminary as the only bearings I have currently are for a 0.010" under crank so the new Scat part can't fully seat. Also no rods yet. I am seeing el cheapo bearing sets on ebay for $24.99 that should be fine for moch up only. What clearance around the counterweights should I maintain? Only the smaller counterweights seem to be getting close from what I gather.

I've read that Molnar 6.7" rods are getting more preference lately over the Scat version. How do the big ends differ in size for stroker clearances?

Oh - If anyone cares to chuck some used STD Main bearings up in the free stuff section I think that would be cool.  ;)

Not that it doesn’t hurt to check everything but you will not have any issues whatsoever with crank to block contact.

Only thing you need to check will be rod big end to camshaft.  With the smaller rods, such as Molnar, you won’t have any issues there either, but you always check.

That's good news... With the 4.375" stroke being less common I assumed it wasn't a drop in like the 4.25". This is basically "My First Rodeo" so checking everything is a must. Heck I'm measuring things twice using two different methods and correlating the data when possible. Guess I'll call it the M.F.R. build.....

I should have a few sets of used std main bearings in empty blocks. I'll check today.
USPS small flat rate should do.

The Molnar rods are really nice parts for the money.  Cost is reasonably close to a Scat H beam with the ARP2000 bolt upgrade.  The Molnar is a good bit lighter, thus requiring less mallory to balance.  Makes the actual cost pretty near to a wash and you get a nicer package.

Thanks for the confirmation Barry. Do you know if the mallory that would be added for balancing exceed 3 LBS? I'm asking as the csst 390 crank I remove from my donor engine is that much heavier than the new stroker crank.
