Dyno'd a 496 with our ported TFS heads this morning....
« on: April 02, 2021, 01:12:43 PM »
Very pleased with how these came out.

A review of the build:

*BBM block, 4.310" x 4.250" combination
*10.5:1 compression, with custom Diamond pistons
*K1 connecting rods
*TFS heads with our port package
*Comp Cams beehive springs
*Ported Performer RPM intake
*Quick Fuel Q-850 carburetor
*Custom Lykins Motorsports hydraulic roller camshaft, 245/252 @ .050", 114 LSA, .630" lift
*Morel standard travel hydraulic roller lifters
*Lykins Motorsports non-adjustable roller rockers

Engine made 640 hp @ 5800 rpm and carried it on up to a peak of 642 hp @ 6200.   Torque was 650 lb-ft at 4200.

With as little as the camshaft is, this combination made some great horsepower and torque.

That's really healthy.  Congrats.  I assume the bore is 4.310?

Agreed. A fun solid build from the looks of it.

Great results.  It shows that with good heads and intake, you can back way off on cam and compression and still make really good power.

Wow!
Great results. I am liking these TFS heads more and more.
What was done to the heads? Port vane reduced? Short side relaxed to change port "stall"?
Hopefully you are able to divulge.

Great build for a real street car, dual plane and those cubes with that cam I’m sure it will loaf along at 2000rpm no problem but good heads will let it hold on up top.

What did the torque curve look like?  How about showing all of the torque/hp data?

Damn that's purdy!  A torque curve is one of the few things that I like really flat.
A careful study of failure will yield the ingredients for success.

That is pretty flat!  I see you started at 3400 rpm and you are already over 640 ft-lbs.  Any idea what torque converter you would recommend with that combo?

WOW!!!!
That is flat. Guessing the stroker also helped in thinking the cam was even smaller? Cuz thats a low 500 ft lbs torque cam rpm range. Don't see to many fe torque specs that straight over a 600 ft lb torque level. Most set-ups that get over 600 ft lbs run for about a range of 1500 rpm before dropping back out it seems. That cam went and cleared a 2000 rpm flat torque range. Graf starts at 3400 rpm, how long was it up there before that? Heck look at how flat the hp got after 5000 rpm. 5200 to 6200 is with in less 30hp and still holding were the graf ended? No point there either. At 114 lsa you can run anything on top. That's like the perfect street/cruz friendly set-up, till your foot hits the carpet. Very nice, you are a cam master in my book. kudos to you.
