Just an observation; I wouldn't be running such a weekend even if not otherwise occupied, but putting a minimum weight in all classes of 3000 pounds means a significant handicap on early iron and sports cars. Suggests either a lack of thinking and planning, or a concerted effort to eliminate what could be a fairly quick contingent.

Many race classes have 3000# minimums, even street car classes.  Many have body restrictions(firewall, front ends, etc)  That just eliminates the chassis cars and all plastic cars.  Making it more "street" like(not like street outlaws who have full blown pro mod race chassis' and call them street cars).  Anyone can make a 2100# car go fast.  But make it 3000# and you have to work at it a bit more.

My 67 Falcon with a 351C has no back seat, no AC/heater, fiberglass race buckets, fiberglass hood and front bumper, aluminum fuel cell and an 8 point bar - weighs 3040lbs  ready to race.  Without me in it.  A lot of early cars that people think are light - ain't.  Factory listed the weight ar around 2650, on the scales before getting to be more race car it was 3350.

Sounds like they're just trying to keep out the mega-dollar, carbon fiber, tube chassis door slammers that are taking over the top classes in Drag Week. Not a bad thing, in my opinion. Any "Street Class" car should have zero problem meeting the 3000lb minimum, even if you have to add a little weight.
