I want to modify a couple of Smith Brothers adjustable push rods
« on: February 18, 2020, 11:02:30 AM »
I have a pair of adjustable pushrods I got from Smith Brothers years ago to check the length I'd need with a solid lifter cam using shell lifters. So these are plenty long and I'd like to modify them to check the range of my roller cam with solid roller lifters. It looks like they use a threaded insert into the tube. Before I bitch it up does anyone know if the insert is a tight press fit or some kind of electro fused? I put them in a vice and gave a quick tug with a vice grip but I didn't want to mess them up to the point of no use. These have the 3/8 cup and 5/16 ball to match my set up. It would be real convenient to modify their length.

thanks,

Press fit. Try heating the tube very quickly, should come apart.
