Little update. Will be moving forward with the build but I may be installing this engine in a 2003 V6 Mustang. Any input on this? lol.
Thinking of going a little more rowdy with it.
Having an FE in the engine bay will definitely set this car apart from all the Coyote swaps.
Haven't found any information regarding an FE swap in these cars so I guess I'm on my own on this one.

This WILL happen--unless I change my mind...... AGAIN.
The FE skirt will be close below but it should be wide enough up top. Anything from the exhaust manifolds down has been an aggravation to me in the modular engine era cars. I would be open minded to build a new sub frame and hood to house the FE.
Hi Chris, thanks for the input.
I keep going back and forth with what I want to do. I have the 410 and a '95 roller 351W. One of them is going in the truck and the other in the Mustang.
From a financial and point of difficulty standpoint, it would make more sense to put the FE in the truck and the Windsor in the Mustang. Aahhhh! I need you guys to help me make a decision here. lol.

Depending on where you live, it is foolish to try to register that Mustang with a FE in it.  It would have to meet stringent emission control requirements, and would be costly.  A 351W can be stroked to upwards of 440 cubic inches with the stock main journals.  Transmission fitment in the mustang would much easier, EFI, everything.  A FE in the truck would make it more era correct, and actually a better work vehicle if you decide to sell it.  I have done several 351W swaps into the Fox/94-95 mustang bodies, and everything is a bolt in.  The later mustangs are almost identical if you can get the wiring harness from a V8 for the swap.  Joe-JDC

Hi Joe. The Mustang will be in my name before the swap. Once that's done, no more concern for smog legality.

The 351 is out of a '95 F-250 and has all the front dress, EFI stuff and wiring complete with computer. It is a mass airflow deal, not speed density. Would basically have to graft the wiring to whichever vehicle it ends up in.

Thanks.

For the last 15 years that I can remember there have been talks about making smog testing nation wide. I believe that is what Mr. Crane was referring to. Even if your car passes emissions at the pipe the smog equipment has to be in place and appear to work. Not likely a Mustang will enter a shop for anything with out the hood being popped open by an admirer.

Don't worry about changing your mind. Most of us car guys change engines and drivetrains like our wives change shoes.

Lol. Thanks Chris.

On the smog thing, I'm in extreme northern CA and there was talk of us getting biannual smog checks that I can remember back in the '80s. Hasn't happened yet. And if it ever does, I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. :)

Okay, gonna stick with the truck swap. Was the original plan and I'm kinda liking the little V6 Mustang the way it is.
