Anyone recognize these valve springs ?
« on: July 01, 2019, 08:25:25 PM »
I'm trying to give a full accounting of the engine components for this build and I have little to no info.  These are double valve springs w/o damper and have a dark greyish/goldish hue.  They measure 2.334" total uninstalled height, Coil Bind at .973, O.D. is 1.537", 2nd O.D. is 1.118" and I.D. is .816".  They have a seat pressure of 200lb with installed height of 1.879", Open Pressure is 500lb at 1.319" (Measured for .645" valve lift for solid roller cam).

Anyone have a clue as to who made these ?  I've searched, Crane, Comp, Lunati and tried to match it up to something they sell but no luck.  Any additional info needed or if I've missed something, just let me know.

Thanks, Jim

   Jim ,
Most likely the spring was "made" by Associated - Raymond Spring Division and sold by any vendor that bought them. I know Sig Erson used a spring like that and so did Norris and Racer Brown. It is a high quality chrome- silicon , shot peened spring  that "in the day" was used for moderate roller cams. It had good life if held to 7,000 rpm.
