Posting Pics
« on: February 01, 2019, 09:19:51 AM »
Ok guys, or gals
I would like to be able to post pics with out taking up the whole screen or have them so small that you can't see any detail.  I really don't want to be resizing all my originals (far to many) since I take them at the highest resolution to be able to enlarge or crop.  I've seen times where if you click on a posted pic thumbnail) it will enlarge to full screen, that is more or less what I would like to be able to do, any help would be appreciated (by everyone perhaps)....Bill

Hi Bill
I’m not the most savvy computer geek but here’s what I do.
There are sites you can use that resize your image. The one I use is called Postimage. Some of the guys use one called Supermotors I think. Here is Postimages link.
https://postimages.org/
You go to their home page and chose what size you want your image to be. I use the largest.
Then you can choose photos from your device and upload them to their site. Then you copy the link of the picture you’ve uploaded and stick it into your post here on Jays site by choosing the picture framed Mona Lisa icon above.
May take a little fiddling and previewing before you’re happy with your post.
Good luck.

If you are using Windows, the "easy" way is to open the pic in Paint. Select Resize, then click the Pixel radio button and enter something reasonable.  Save the pic, done.  Usually for a landscape 1024x? and for portrait maybe 600 or 800x ?

Another trick for Windows users to grab something off your screen, browser window, etc - look for the Snipping Tool.  It is used to capture anything off your screen and save to a JPG file.  You can also mark up the capture with colored markers.  The attached pic was captured with the Snipping Tool.

I personally use and semi-old copy of Fireworks to modify and enhance pictures, but I've been doing that a long time.  Non-trivial type operations.  I also own a big chunk of web space and hosting at GoDaddy.

To save the high res original, I just make a copy and compress the copy in microsoft office photo. Compress the copy to either document or web page size will make it much more manageable when opened online. Jim

Thanks guys for the help and some ideas I never knew, TurboHunters is probably the easiest for me right now. I tried it out in my response to Happystangs post on Oil restriction.
Thanks again and much appreciated.
