Drag Day at Greenfield
« on: October 13, 2012, 09:59:07 PM »
We had the Fairlane to Greenfield Airport/Track today.
It was a great day. The car made 3 runs. Ran great. I do not know how to drive.  :P
The engine was to much for the tires. BFG Radials. Great on gravel not so good on the track.
My brother made the first run. We flipped a coin to see who would go first. Spun the tries like crazy.
I made the second run. My plan was to feather it off the line and then come on to it. I came on to it too hard, too fast. Spinning.
My son in law made the last run and bested the first 2 runs by a second. ::)  It was the first run he ever made on a track. This was
the first round of eliminations and he went way to fast so he put us on the trailer.  He had lots of coaching and obviously listens. LOL
He ran a 14.23 so that tells you how bad I was. The car would easily get in to the 13's with the young fella at the wheel.
We had a great season with the Fairlane. Took in some of the big and little shows and even had a day at the track.
Now to get the Stang back in action  ;D

A pic of fast boy making his run.

Bill, 68Pace of E/SA 1428 Fame and regular on FordFE was there and running his 428 hard. Very Kool!

That will be the tough call all winter.
Slicks will need a steeper gear to really be effective. The 3.25 highway gear is holding it back as a drag.
What I need is all the swap over gear.
Yes boys and girls it is an expensive game.

The real problem is I would have to let the kid drive it. He's faster.
Ya right.
