T&D rockers?
« on: January 12, 2013, 04:35:57 PM »
OK as usual I am confused? They make two sets of T&D rockers for the Edelbrock head other than the $300 price difference between the street and race set and the metal plate shown for what I do not know and the required machining for the race what is the actual benefits with the race set? Thanks for putting up with me LOL Jon

I have a set of the T&D street rockers and they don't require any machining to bolt on to factory low rise head. I haven't tried them on an Edelbrock head, so can't comment on that fit. The rockers can also use factory oiling through the head or pushrod oiling. The rocker arms appear the same as those on my T&D race set.

I think the bar pictured on Barry Rs site goes on the bottom of the rocker stands and locates the stand from twisting which would explain the mill work needed to set things right. I wonder at what point would be a time to consider the upgrade rpm and spring seat pressure wise? I do have 360 psi springs to keep my roller lifters from bouncing around at 6000 rpm.

The race rocker is completely different.  It requires milling the OE style rocker mount bosses down toward head bolt level - once you do this you can never "go back".  The steel plate bolts down onto the modified head using the supplied longer head bolts.  Four individual rocker shafts with two rockers each mount to the plate with the supplied hardware.  The race rockers oil thorugh the pushrods and require a block that supports this.

In comparison, the street rockers bolt down normally.  They offer one for the Edelbrock heads and one for the OE heads.  The are identical other than shims and spacers.

I would guess a 390 standard block would not work with that setup so that settles that one Thanks for the FYI  Barry I guess I'll order them in a couple weeks and you can send them with the camshaft and lifters..

It will work with any FE block that can run hydraulic lifters.  You need to have a very simple machining process done:

You can tap and plug the oil passage in the head that goes to the rockers:

You use the longer T+D head bolts for a steel plate:

Then the support for the rockers bolts on the steel plate:

Then just bolt on the rockers two at a time:

Ball-ball pushrods with oiling holes are required.  Nice to be able to remove rockers for one cylinder at a time with all the tension off unlike the stock system

I'll.have to ask Barry if my roller lifters will have oil holes in them? Not sure about that otherwise it seems strait forward enough. Thanks for the pics that helped.a lot. This is my first experience with a high performance shaft rocker system so I am really behind on this one.
