I was thinking real hard about a new Bullitt Mustwang. Really hard. And now I see that the MT-82 trans and clutch are still substandard pieces of shit. Back to thinking about a T/A Challenger with a 6.4. Cuz moar low-end torque.

I wouldn't let a few ding dongs with delusions of grandeur of being the next Ronnie Sox sway you away from a new mustang. I remember back in 5.0 fox body days that some guy's could run in the 11's with a stock T5 with no problems  and others couldn't run under 14 seconds without breaking theirs. Is the MT-82 The best manual trans? No. Should Ford have put the Tremec from the GT350 in all the mustangs?  Probably, or at least made it an option. As far as I know the new Mustangs have the same twin disc clutch as the GT350's. If you haven't driven a new Mustang yet you need to. They are down on torque compared to the other two but having sat in all three the Mustang was the best choice.  If I didn't already have a GT350 a 2019 Bullitt with magna ride and active exhaust would be on order.

As to the Crown Vic. Any version of the 4.6 is outdated technology.  I have a 4.6 in my 61 f100 and would like it to make more power but keep coming back to the fact that the dollar per return just isn't there with a 2v 4.6l. If you want more power do a Coyote swap or even better a 6.2l Raptor swap.

I wasn't aware that Ford put a 3v in the CV.

I think all the 2V's morphed into VVT 3V's during 2004. My F-150 is a 2005 with a 5.4 3V. I still have my '97 CV with a 2V. The '06 is noticeably faster. Both have 3.27 gears. Option C or D or F ( ::) ) is to put a 393W into the '97 and just swap license plates from the '06 when I want to bomb around. I have alloy heads and an Adney Brown crank; just need a cam.

Visually, to me, the Challenger T/A wins hands down in looks, as it is the closest to its classic counterpart of any of the present pony cars. I kinda don't think I'll wind up with anything new, though. It would look like I'm trying to gain some respectability, and nobody that knows me is gonna buy that for a dollar.

I don't know about ANY. the 4.6 Terminator from '03-04 Cobras will compete easily with a Coyote with the same type of budget on parts. They were overbuilt from the factory. Nice forged cranks, Manley rods, etc. They can easily handle 900-1000hp on the stock bottom end. The Coyote you have to worry about oil pump gears grenading. I will agree there is much room for improvement on a 2V. Having said that, I am a big fan of Coyotes. I have driven a couple new GT350's. Very impressive in stock form. I have driven a tuned Boss 302, and was also impressed.

They didn't put a 3V in a Crown Vic.

Then why does the OBX header application stop at 2004? I'm gonna go outside and look at both engines side-by-side.

I don't think the 3V was a change for everything. I have an 05 Triton 6.8 V10 3V but the new F550's still use a 2V V10.
The 3V looks quite different from a 2V so it should be easy to tell.

With all the crap around them, I can't really tell. The valve covers are a little different, but my observation is inconclusive. I did do some homework, though, and Jared's claim that there aren't any factory 3V Vics appears to be correct. Oddly, I did find some posts from other people thinking as I, so at least I feel a little better wallowing in my ignorant douchebaggedness.

Unfortunately, dumping a ton of money into this Vic's engine via a supercharger is just not too attractive to me now. Thousands to wind up where a warmed-over 390 can be. Where the mods shine is at the level that Cleetus is at: great flowing heads and 20 lbs of boost. It seems that an Aluminator crate with the 9.5 compression with a top-notch blower would be a killer setup, but I'm guessing you'd be in the 25k neighborhood at least with all the necessary bumper-to-bumper upgrades.

I emailed OBX about that year application thing, but nothing back yet. It appears that is an incomplete system, anyway.

Maybe we are not in the wrong hobby after all. I dunno. I'm so confused. I need a drink. Several drinks. And a lobotomy. Yep.
