Ceramic coating headers revisited

I found a place locally that will ceramic coat my headers but they can only coat the outside. The last set I have done they coated inside and out. How much better do you think the inside/outside is than just the outside? This will be mainly for heat reduction. They did say they coat as much as they could get to on the inside but didn't have the equipment to get way inside a tube.

That's pretty much what everyone does, they are just being honest.  They charge the part, spray the powder, and cannot see what it's doing inside very well, then they heat it.

If reducing heat is really what you're after, a real ceramic coating applied by plasma spray or HVOF is considerably better than an electrostatically applied powder coating.

I'm pretty sure Jet Hot has a coating they swab on the inside with a brush like you'd find in like a PVC Cement can.  It's a different coating than they use on the outside maybe the super high temp 2500 degree stuff?  I had some stuff done a few years back and that's what it looked like, but they were definitely coated inside and out.  Possibly why Jet Hot is (were, haven't looked lately) so much more money than everyone else.  The nice thing about it was you could work on the car just a few minutes after you shut if off, they cooled down really fast.  To answer your question, I'd say its worth the money to have them coated inside and out.

ditto.....Swain did my headers, bottom of manifold, and the tops of my pistons

I'd have to say to the inside coated guys, get a scope and look in there.  I doubt you really have a nice coating. 

I have had many, to include Jet Hot and any brand you can think off.  They all spray it down the hole, the problem is you can't see in there.  All will be coated in a few inches, but I have yet to see anyone who can spray neatly down a bent pipe  or 8

THIS.... Any pipes I've had done are the same and if you run race gas any coating inside is gone in short order.
