Forte's Modified Pro 5 Shifter. Worth The Price ?

I just bought a new Tremec TKO 600 trans and from my research so far, it sounds like many people do not like the stock Tremec shifter.

So, I started looking for after market, and two are the Pro 5 and Steeda. Mike Forte takes the Pro 5 and does some tweeking on it.
I don't know exactly what all is done, but the main is he makes it almost impossible to miss 2nd to 3rd shift. With my first Tremec was just the 3550 with their stock shifter. Other than being a little tight in shifting, I never missed that shift in 5 years, both easy and almost speed shifting.

One other mod is he makes it a "Mid-Shift" if needed for your car. Not sure about my 427 Cobra, as I don't recall if my 3550's position. Been 10 years.

Do any of you have experience with the Forte modified Pro 5 shifter ?
Is his worth the $350 bucks vs a stock Pro 5 of around $160 to $220 ?

I would prefer to get a shifter installed and adjusted on the tranny before, installing the engine and tranny into the car.

If you never had a problem with the 3550, you wont have a problem with the TKO600 either.  Once I "unlearned" to shift 2-3 with an open palm, and not shove it over and up, I never had a problem again.

Some that I've heard, believe it or not, is Tremec was being pounded of not having a tranny that would hold the torque that people wanted. So, they kind of rushed the 600 to production, but doing so, created a mess with the shifting. There has to be a lot of people that just don't know how to shift. Like you said, using you open palm and going straight up will go right into 3rd.

I love the Cuda's and other MOPARS , but their "Pistol Grip" handle is a cool design, but aids in miss shifting. A simple round knob works the best.
That being said, I hope it's not the design of the trans, just a bad rumor....

Does the Tremec have the same 2nd to 3rd mechanism, as with the Pro 5 to aid in miss shifts ?
If so, what makes the Pro5, Steeda, MGW and Hurst any better ?

The Tremec TKO stock shifter has minimal 5th gear lock out.

I didn't have any issues either after I unlearned "all the way over and up" which usually ends up between 3rd and 5th  However, the aftermarket shifters have a very pronounced 5th gear lock out and guide into 3rd.  I assume it would help, but hasn't been worth the money to me on the street

I'd rather install any shifter on the transmission out of the car.  But it would be interesting to use the Tremec that came with my transmission, drive the Cobra to feel the shifting. Choose one of the three other shifter's, install it then drive to compare. The problem is, now I have two,..... used shifters.
But, that's the cost of being a gearhead.
