« on: April 16, 2017, 04:02:58 AM »
I have a -64 Galaxie with alternator but dont remember
how it is mounted. If my memory serves me right the
alt. is mounted low hanging below the bolt that bolt it
to the block.I have painted a set to mount it high abow
that bolt. I cant move the car so i can open the hood
right now so does someone know before i mount the
alternator on the engine

I believe that's the mount for the lower mounting position. The high mount had a gentle curve to it, like this one...

Did your car come with an alternator? Ford was still using generators in '64, but not sure about exports.
Here's the original generator mount off that all original '64 that the expansion tank came off of...

The Police option had Alternator -64 as i understand it.  My Galaxie was sold new in Roanoke  Virginia
came to Sweden in the early 80s. The Swedish police didnt like when i used the Virgina plates ::) ;D
Like you say my mount for the belt tension is straight and look wrong for the high
position and got the bulge to the front when in low position.I also have that press in
stud on the stock water pump like the 64 in your pic. Where the new pump have a threaded hole
I guess i wait with the Alternator until i have dragged the car out of the barn in a couple of weeks
The stock alternator is on the engine i have in the car now  so probably the right mont is there to
