« on: July 26, 2016, 01:18:16 PM »
Anyone here ever use any of the muggy weld/super alloy aluminum brazing rods ? Either the #1 or #5 ?
How did it work out ?

I haven't but if it works like they say I gotta get me some of that.  Aluminum with a MAPP torch is hard to do - it goes from not enough heat to just right to too much in a blink, so "half the melting point" sounds like a decent safety margin.  From the Amazon reviews, looks like it works well on 1/8 type aluminum but on thin sheet not so much.

I have watched the guy do Muggy weld, and then tried 8 ways to Sunday and can never repeat what he does.  I am also very proficient welding with a torch as well as brazing.  That stuff somehow blows my mind :)
