Nylon fans??
« on: June 08, 2016, 10:28:04 PM »
Anyone have experience using them, aftermarket flexo lite types or other brand. My 99 250 runs  a plastic oem fan never an issue but it is clutched. I am looking at a solid so faster rpms 6 k max. Thoughts on longevity?  I like the idea that when they break they will cause less damage.

I ran a flex-o-lite on my 351C in my 68 Mustang without any trouble. Turned it to 6800 rpm regularly.  Only had it on the car for a season, then switched to electric pushers in front on the radiator. I chose the plastic as a temporary fix because I didn't have a fan shroud at the time and reasoned the same...if it came apart maybe it would just dent things instead of slice through like a metal flex fan. As far as cooling it did fine think it was a 14 or 15 inch?

I'm a big fan of nylons...Oh my mistake, I thought you meant... anyway, my 88 ranger has a plastic fan & it's been cracked for years, never seems to get worse. I did have a 4 blade steel one that lost a blade at 5k.went right through the side of the fender cutting the wire harness & puke tank.

What goes fast takes your money with it.
So I'm slow & broke, what went wrong?
