C6 with Transgo Kit questions
« on: March 23, 2016, 08:34:27 AM »
Hi, A few years back I had my C6 rebuilt to make it almost bulletproof, I had a Transgo kit installed (which one I don't know). As I was picking it up he told me he made it fully manual and if I didn't like it he could easily make it automatic shifting again, The way it shifts is that if I put it in drive and go it instantly shifts to high gear so I have to "manually" shift through the gears. This has been fine but now I am going through the engine and tranny and would like to make it automatic with nice snappy shifts again. The guy that built it has long disappeared so now I need to install a kit, which kit should I use ? I have read about the 67 1-2
kit. Not knowing what was installed or removed from the valve body should I be able to tell by comparing the kit to what is in the VB now? any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Hard saying not knowing.
I've got a few spare stock valve bodies kicking around.  I think it'd be easier just to start fresh and toss in a new shift kit.

One thought on finding a valve body.  make sure you know if it's a case detent of valve body detent.

I have one of those manual transgo kits in my drag car .I believe the pn is 67-3 .You can easily change it from manual to automatic there are additional parts included in the kit for this operation.Sadly you don't have the parts or instruction sheet .So you are going to need a new valve body .Someone familiar with that trango kit could change it for you but they would need the parts .Transgo sends two gaskets with that shift kit .One for manual and one for auto .Jay at broader or Frank Merkl Might be able to help if you don't want to buy another valve body. And as Drew says Be aware of the difference in detents .The way you can tell them apart is the manual valve on a detent in the valve body wont move whenever you remove it from the transmission .With the detent in the case the manual valve moves freely.I love my c6 with the forward pattern manual valve body .Trans go has been at it a long time and they are really help full on the phone .Doug
