The dual quad tune....
« on: February 29, 2016, 09:45:03 AM »
Just a quick update on my 427W project with the dual 1850's...
Started out with 64 jet in primaries and 68 secondaries with 6.5 PV and stock Idle Air bleeds with stock IFR's.
Found idle and off idle a bit rich with mild to hard accel. really lean.
Changed tune to .070 IAB with 67 primary jets... 8.5 PV and 70 jets in Secondary. Moved up to .031 pump squirtters and now have a 13.9-14.1 idle and seems to stay in that mid 13 area thru medium/hard acceleration. Engines likes the leaner idle better than my former Super Vic intake and 950 Holley.
Need to get my A/F indicator in a safer to glance at location for full power blast in 3 and 4th gear.
Pulls really hard when you hit it though! Also tried something different on the Vac. Secondary pots using the long yellow spring and replacing the check ball with a .040 restriction bushing which seems to work real well with weight of car and axle ratio.
Fun little street ride! ;D
How does this carb tune compare with some of you  427 FE guys using same carbs?
Again...thanks for carb info some of you shared!
