I have had 5 69-70 Mustang fastbacks, 2 69 R code Mach 1s, 2 70 Mach 1s (1 M code, 1 R code), and a 70 non Mach 1 Sportsroof (M code). My own personal favorite is a 70 Sportsroof non Mach 1. I always felt the large ribbed rocker panels, fake fog lites, large twist lock hood pins, and honeycomb tail light panel on the 70 Mach 1s were just a bit too garish. My 70 Sportsroof was Grabber orange with the black hood stripe and Shaker, rear wing, and black standard interior with a console, rim blow wheel, and fold down rear seat. A previous owner painted the tail light panel semi gloss black, and at least to me, it looked like a Boss 302 without the stripes, especially after I added the rear sport slats (25 to 50 bucks back in the mid 70s!). I have never really been a big fan of the 69-70 Shelbys, I always thought that the Mustangs just looked perfect from the factory, and the Shelby nose , like Jay said, looked too much like a 71-73 Mustang. Again, just my opinion.
