Did NASCAR FEs ever run Dry-Sumps?

At some point Dry-Sumps in NASCAR became standard operating procedure but was that point when FEs were still being raced?

Yes, sir. I don't remember exactly but even after the Boss 429 hit in 69, a lot of teams were running the FE with dry sumps. I have some info but it's at home at the moment.....

I really can't be 100% sure but I do not remember a dry sump on a 68 mercury cyclone that ran the sportsman class at Daytona back in early 70's. Grand Nationals were the top before it was called Winston Cup so this class just under that (xfinity today). It was an old Holman Moody car and I remember Richie Evans drove it at least a couple times. The mechanic told me at that time that the Fords ran better and were more reliable at Daytona and like tracks. His opinion at that time was a BBC would not last 300 miles at Daytona. Richie Evans usually had BBC in his short track nascar modified. I remember we were talking about the Bud Moore 351 ford car ,so that may have been 1972. I do remember the 427 in the Mercury was a tunnel port. The 1969 Boss 429 had a dry sump in nascar but I want to say only the factory teams were able to play with and afford it.
