Crazzee George's 427 Hot Rod

Years ago there was an FE Club of America. FECA had an annual FE Shootout at Bowling Green. One year in particular George won the shoot-out by defeating Rufuses full race trailer'd 427 Fairlane. Rufus had made it through eliminations in part by being savvy on the tree and George was concerned about it. Both competitors did long smoking burnouts beyond the tree in the final round.  As George completed his burnout - he immediately did a matching smokey burnout in reverse with smoke seriously engulfing the cab. He quickly staged his car with his FE's rev's held at 4,500 waiting for Rufus to stage.  (George had a large VCR camera/recorder mounted in his cab and captured it - amazing video). George beat Rufus to win that shootout on essentially a better light.
Now we have Drag Week but George did the 1,400mile round trip driving his cross ram'd 427 Model A steel body w/ much reinforced original frame car all the way with no cell phone, trailer or support vehicles. A tent, cooler, toolbox and set of slicks in the tiny bed.  One trip he had to repeatedly replace on the road three Dove rockers that broke at different times.  His FECA winning's included a set of Dove wide-body rockers - that was the last time he ever broke a rocker.
     George's car is amazing in that it's usual for family's to approach him at shows/cruises and ask to hear it run and/or pose in it for pictures as pictured below.

That is a real diehard to drive something like that so far and race it.

Tom, I went with George once to Fun Ford Weekend, Orlando about 300 miles round trip. I wore ear plugs for the noise. I learned the hard way about fumes from the breathers constantly wafting into the cab, it made me nauseous as hell.  The smell was not that noticeable at first but after an hour of sustained breathing that crap it gets you.
