Is this the same Hotrod Magazine that only posts Chevy related stuff?    *grin*

LOL!  I saw that little firestorm on the FE forum.  Funny how some people get their undies all wadded up over that kind of stuff ;D   I've got a good friend who's the same way.  The key fact, though, is that if you go to a typical car show, or a typical drag race, 90% of the vehicles there are GM products.  So, any of the magazines that cater to the entire spectrum of car people are going to slant their coverage towards GM cars and parts.  Seems like common sense to me; no use in getting all riled up over it.  Besides, I like to keep an eye on the competition ;)

LOL, that friend spoke out at the dinner table, and got shot down by a friend of one of the EMC groups.  I was unaware of what was said until he asked me about the guy.  Didn't know he was a shrub lover.  LOL.  Anyway, you just never know who will explode when a comment is made about their favorite brand of engine paint colors.  I have found that most engines can't read, nor do they play favorites to anyone.  Just machines.

On a side note, I was impressed with how open Jon Kaase was to answering questions from anybody and everybody.  He would explain anything in detail to the nth degree if you just stood there and listened.  Not many engine builders are so open to giving away their secrets.   Joe-JDC

I'll 2nd that. When I was asking him some questions about his engine, before he ran, he told me to stop back afterwards because he would be tearing it down and that I could take pictures of everything. But I've also come to the conclusion that it's what you can't see with the naked eye, or without doing some serious measuring or comparing, that makes the REAL difference between a really well built engine and one that soars above the rest. It's just that Kaase's builds are so outside the norm that there are things that even a blind squirrel looking for a buried nut would find obvious.

As for Hot Rod, it's been chevy heavy for a long time. Like Jay said, when 80% of the cars out there are GM's, you go where you're going to get the most interest. Popular Hot Rodding, OLD Hot Rod, Custom Rodder and several other now defunct mags were almost nothing but Ford, back in the day. Fords were always the go-to cars for customs back in the '50s. You can find technical merit in just about any gear-head article.

Well, no offense to you Mustang guys, but I feel the same way about them :P
I'd never really comment negatively, but at the track or a car show I get tired of there being 20 Fords, 19 of which are Mustangs.

Anyway, wasn't too many months ago, Hotrod mag had a huge spread on Fords, the SOHC in particular.  Was a worthy read.

Hey, glad you all liked the article. I do like to post Ford-related stuff I find interesting and hopefully interesting to other users of Jay's fine website.

I don't know Kaase one bit but after reading of his bending over backwards to answer any and all questions, he's apparently a terrific fellow beyond a talented engine guy. And yes, his ability to outline in his head how an engine should be designed then actually built is also an amazing talent indeed. And it's not limited to only FE's as Team Kaase has won or finished high in the EM competition using a multiple of Ford engine platforms, once too with a Pontiac!

Glad he's on our team and not the (GM) dark side! Hah!
