418 1st Start-Up
« on: June 16, 2015, 07:19:23 PM »
1st start-up of 418. Only a 12 second video as did not know what to expect the first time cranking. Running in about 2 seconds. Shut it down just to check things over.

A ball of fire on 1st startup too. LOL  When I saw my friend jump back shut it down.

Next video was a bit over 2 minutes long but it took a while for fuel to get to pump as had fuel lines off and completely drained.

2 minute 2nd start-up

Pics following

70 PSI oil pressure hot at under 2000 rpm

Temp just touched 200 deg after 15 minutes running. I will now adjust timing and restart. Probably need mufflers before test drive.

No leaks all is good so far. Runs great but think timing here is a bit late. New MSD timing boxes do not allow for my typical timing set.

A bit loud for this neighborhood . .

Great feeling when they fire right up! :)
Kool flame throw. Just a bit of gas in the pipe. 8)
Great too see another good looking FE making noise.

Yeah I overfilled the primary bowl a bit. No glasses on and was watching the "window" on drivers side of carb. Took a bit to realize only 1 window but on pass side.
That's what old age brings I guess. LOL

It was nice to see it fire so quickly.

109-111 deg when I ran it outside for 15 + Minutes. Temp never got over 200 deg. Now its time to let it idle a bit and adjust timing and carb.

Have not been on in a while.

Notice you have the Fairlane going now too! Nice

Another couple running video's

Timing as figured was late in other vids. Now feel I have it where it needs to be along with a bit of idle mixture adjustment on the QF carb. Really runs great now

Click on below to see and hear the video's

I had forgotten my GoPro case over camera so its very muffled

Backing up to put in side garage for muffler install

Then thought a simple drive up and down the driveway would not hurt.

Again, The GoPro case was on so quite muffled.

Another showing temp gauge and oil pressure at full temp. Pretty much stayed around 190 deg idling. No fan shroud yet.

Of course a couple blips of the throttle were needed. LOL

Pretty happy with how it turned out so far. Now gotta clean up the wiring and make a run at the chassis dyno. Just to see if I can hit my goal. THen I will put it up for sale in classified's

Mufflers...you don't need no stinking mufflers! ;)

Sounds great. Got' a love it when the needles are pointing in the right direction.
If I left that much gear outside for more than a day it would be all rusty and seized up. :P
