plug locations?
« on: August 30, 2014, 05:39:55 PM »
So the camera I was taking pictures of my 428 tear down is broke, and I'm not sure if I can recover them.  I've started re-assembling the engine, and have plugs like the ones in the top right of the attached picture.  Does anyone have a picture or diagram of where these go?

The big plug is a core plug and goes in the side of the block.
The two threaded plugs and small plug go in the 10 places on a standard hydraulic FE.
4 on the back.
4 in the valley.
1 on the front.
1 in distributor hole.
Best practice is to tap each hole for 1/4" NPT thread if they are not already done.
The one in the dist hole can be plugged with a small core plug. If you don't feel like tapping it.
The large single plug goes in the back cam hole and goes in backwards.

Thanks.  I got the core or freeze plugs in already, and I also have the cam plug ready to put in.  It's the small ones I'm trying to figure.  All of the small plugs I have are screw in allen head.  Looks like the two in the back of the lifter valley along the oil galley have some yellowing colored plug or epoxy in them that wasn't removed by the machine shop.  I'll see if I can figure the other three and post pictures to see if I'm correct.
