I don't think I'll be attending.

I did make the mistake of typing in Drag Week on YouTube once....and quickly found out that you need to be a little more specific in the title :o

Back in the fall of 2005 I was wearing my Drag Week winners jacket EVERYWHERE.  I was in the local Menards (a home building store), and some guy in the checkout line behind me asked if the jacket meant that I wore women's clothing for a week.  He was joking of course, and was kind of a closet car guy.  I asked him about the cars he was interested in, and believe it or not he was into Nash Metropolitans!  I told him that suddenly his original comment made sense  ;D ;D

Watch out for those closet car guys Jay, they might try and sneak up on you and
change your oil. Yikes. ::)

I have no trouble believing that a Nash Metro is a 'closet car'! :)

(By the way, I look forward to reading your Drag Week blog. Is Joel going along, one more time, as Trunk Monkey?)

Joel is entered as a contestant too, this year, so I will be looking for a new partner.  I think my friend Steve, who went with me in 2005 and 2006, may be interested in going again this year.  That would be fun; this would be the 10 year anniversary of the trip Steve and I made to Drag Week in 2005.  That year was a blast...

Was at a car show and this fella had a 49 Nash Ambassador with a continental kit..... looked like an upside down bathtub to me, but he loved it to death.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Saw a Nash metropolitan with a blower sticking up out of the hood somewhere ::)

My Uncle Joe bought one new (puke green and cream :P) before economy cars were supposed to be cool, I remember the first time we saw it.  Dad just stood there and stared at it.  He usually had plenty to say, but this time he remained silent.  Looking back I'm pretty sure he wasn't awestruck.

Send it to me! I'm in for a week of fun and frolic behind the wheel of my Hemi Coupe. (well, once it has a wheel that is) I've got a new trunk monkey in training, but I haven't told him about the girl clothes thing yet.   :-*

I don't know if Steve is willing to follow in the footsteps of the Trunk Monk Extraordinaire. I'm sure he will swap the tires and drop the exhaust, but will he carry your luggage to room? Will he fold back your blanket and put a mint on your pillow? Will he scout out storm drains for you when your oil needs changing? ???

Or will he disappear from sight when my car needs to be pushed in the staging lanes?  Will he try to con me out of a free dinner with his Captain Stabbin' routine?  Will he take up the whole interior of the race car with his multiple suitcases?  Will he pull out his umbrella and do his Mary Poppins routine at the first sign of rain?

Drag Week just won't be the same without the original Trunk Monkey...    ;D
