Dual tail lights
« on: March 02, 2014, 04:36:25 PM »
I was going through some old Pictures.
And found one on a 67 Mustang i had
with four tail lights.
It was a popular modification in Sweden
in the 70s,I welded many Mustangs back
to two tailights in the 80s :) :)
Was it ever comon in USA to ad a pair extra tail lights??
If you was real hot you aded a Thunderbird relay so you
had turnsignals that "walked"

I only recall seeing a couple cars that did that here in the states, and they were the World Of Wheels show car types back in the '70s. Luckily, and thankfully, it was not a real "catch on" modification. Personally, I hate the look.

Heo,
It wasn't too common to do it on the '67s, and I never saw one. But I did see several 65-66s with that mod back in the day...   ::). Btw I grew up in So. California.  ::)
Regarding the sequential or "walking" tail lights, I was sitting at an intersection waiting to turn left the other day with a work colleague who is quite a bit younger than I am; we were behind a new Grabber Blue Mustang which had the sequential tail lights going... I brought the feature to his attention and told him I first saw it on a '66 T-bird. He seemed amazed that the idea was so old, and had not just been invented!  I guess that's human nature!  ;)

Can you post that old picture?

I know i never saw that in any US car magazines
But Here it was real comon and the 60s Impalas and belairs got the tail panel
filled with lights
I never liked that look either but i made a few bucks  welding the
extra holes shut ;D ;D
One 65-66 i fixed had 67 Cougar tail ligts mounted. That was not bad
looking.
But hey a Mustang have to have those six slots taillights

I remember seeing it probably a dozen times over the years, usually '67 & '68's and often with 6 sets of taillights! And as mentioned, much more common on the "Scrubs" ( don't use the "C" word ) since the high-end models had 6 tail lights instead of 4. Especially Scrub'vettes.

Vetinary light conversions are still popular on the mini fat and farting cars LOL kinda like a hood bra, men don't wear a bra so their car shouldn't either.
