Did you find out anything 65er ? I was thinking about these tires http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/cok-62450/overview/  But i am afraid they get to expensive to me. So i guess i go for the radial tire.

Wow, turns out I've got more room than I realized  back there.  With my current 255/60-15's on 8" wheels with 4.5" backspace, I have about 5/8" clearance between the tire and fender, but there's a full 1.5" between the tire and frame.  Looks like a 275/60-15 should fit just fine on a 9" wide rim with 5.5" backspacing.

So let's say 245/60-15 tires on 8" wheels with 4.25 backspacing for the front,  and 275/60-15 tires on 9" wheels with 5.5" backspace for the rear are about as big as will comfortably fit.

I do remember that a few who max'ed out their 1965's made it a point to add hard urethane bushings (or even spherical rod ends) to the lateral Panhard bar. Older Ford rubbers would allow a lot of side-to-side slop in hard cornering, with the tires hitting one or both sides of the fender/wheelwell.  See linky for sources of adjustable Panhard bars and other neat '65-'66 Galaxie parts.

Here's a fine R code I drooled over last year, have no idea what it sold for!

Hey that's a good point Bob, although the really critical feature on the Spohn Panhard bar is the adjustability.  The stock bar has no adjustment and will favor one side depending on ride height. I had a tire rub a few times before I modified my panhard bar with a tie rod link like so...

I haven't had a tire rub since doing that mod even with the stock 50 year old (but still serviceable) rubber bushings.

Also on the 15x9 wheels and 5.5 backspace as I mentioned above, I did some shopping and found very very few 15X9 wheels.  Oddly enough, the only one I saw with 5.5 backspacing was the Weld Racing Pro Star, which is a very close match to the wheels on my car!  15X8 with 5.00 backspace should be fine with a 275 tire and might be easier to find.

And now I see I've gone waaaay off on a tangent.  Here I am talking about a 275/60-15 which is nearly 3" wider than the F70-15 linked from Summit.  Yeah Galaxie352, those wheels and tires you linked should drop right in place with no problem.

As for the Lorenzen idea, he certainly used a bigger tire and went about it in a different way...

Thanks for the idea about tire size. I probably go for radials because the bias tire is get to expensive for me, but i do not need 275 tire, maybe a 235 all around.

Those look like the picup Wheels with 5.5 inch
bolt circle I Heard the used 2 centers stacked
on each other and welded together to strengten
the Wheels
on the street you probably dont need that
The tires was probably slicks but i dont sure
about that
Probably they used different tires for ovals
and for the roadcourse

Coker still sells a knock-off NASCAR steel wheel that restorers use.

Look way down this link for pictures:

It's actually COKER.....see link below. They may only make up NASCAR wheels by special order, only a guess. If not listed, I'd e-mail them for details.

https://www.cokertire.com/

This steel wheel, in various sizes, looks mighty close to the H-M wheel in the previous H.A.M.B. picture.

http://www.cokertire.com/wheels/o-e-style-ford-wheel-primed.html

And yes, the H-M wheels had a double center section welded in to provide more strength.....not really needed for street driving.
