Who's rear gears to use

I'm still in the parts gathering stage wishing I was in the assembly stage. I haven't bought any gears for a LONG time. I want durability and relatively quiet operation. Car is 1966 Cyclone, 462 CID, 4 speed, on M/T E/T street R  or S/S. Planning on using Cal-Tracs. Use is 98% street. What can you all recommend? Thanks, Chuck S. (OK.)

I've had good luck with Richmond and Yukon, but have not personally used either one for a few years now.
I don't know if anything has changed with either of them.
Hopefully not....
Place I work (medium-big drivetrain reman place) the diff guys still use both,
I've not heard anything bad about them.
(I'm in the auto trans reman side, so don't get my hands on diffs much anymore)
If bad things were happening with Richmond or Yukon, I'd still probably hear about it.
I see the Receiving Dept still unloading pallets of both, so we are still using them.


By all means avoid "white box" no-name chinesium stuff.
Every one I ever used was crap.
Noisy and failed quick.

What I used by accident... Have a 9 inch under my 1985 Mustang LX with tko-600 trans. 15 years ago while testing different rear end ratios I picked up a used 31 spline center section with 3.50 ratio out of a 1976 Ford pickup just to see how the ratio would work behind my 427W.  I like it and bought a new Richmond Gear in 3.50 to swap in my good center section.
Well 6 years ago I pulled it out to try out a complete used Nascar  4.00 ratio center and while checking out my 3.50 unit I was shocked to see somehow I had installed the old 3.50 truck ring and pinion and verified that by finding the new gears still in the box!  I had beat the crap out of it over those 9 years running it on the street and strip and yet still a very quiet gear set and no broken or worn teeth.  I reinstalled it when the 4.00 was just more gear than I needed and the old Ford 3.50 ring and pinion still in there today!
