Give Quick Performance a call. They can hook you up with whatever you need, spools, axles, complete center section (3rd member) strange, moser, yukon, and most any gear ratio you want for 1200$.

I didn't mind the spool with my slicks but didn't like them with drag radials or street tires , my locker is old late 60's unit noisy as fug and corners are best off of the gas but be ready to grab the wheel if you have to gas it , my 63 Fairlane will want to plow a little if you have to give it gas around a 45 and up mph around bends and turns on Rt 42 especially with the skinny fronts . I'm in the same boat as you and thinking of upgrading my 65 Mustang Fastback we tubbed and built in the late 80's with small block power that has 31 spline to a 35 and/or more spline to accommodate Blair Patrick HP after I change over the 1965 shock towers out to a "modified for even more clearance" 1968 shock towers from Dynacorn

do not (cheap out on a track build) use a spool and axels a little stronger than you may need-- if break/loose traction with power or speed on one wheel you WILL go for unwanted ride !!!!                     lockers do better on street/ road/or circle tracks-      p.s. i run my 67 fairlane in the 10s car can go high 9s -i am in my 80s- no do not need a suupid ride on broken axel !!!!
The "stupid ride" you describe almost always results in some serious damage to the car, and sometimes destruction of the car and medical costs for the driver.
If the cheap axle/differential set up is $1,200 and the expensive version is $3,000 that leaves an $1,800 difference.
The resulting damage from the "stupid ride" after the cheap set up failed can easily cost in the thousands in repairs and losses...at which point you have to wonder what money you saved buying the cheap set up.

Blair Patrick is projecting 800 plus HP in the low to mid 7000 RPM range.

I'm having a problem finding a carrier for 31 spline axles.  I have three Detroit Lockers but they are all for 31 spline axles.

I found this at Speedway motors:  https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Helical-Gear-Style-Differential-Ford-9-Inch-35-Spline,490855.html

I just called them and they think it will, of course.  And they couldn't tell me who makes it (several suppliers so it varies). Total cost with cut to length axles about $1150.

The other option is a Strange case with 3.25 carrier bearings, an Eaton Trutrac differential with Speedway axles total about $1700.

I'd use a 4.71 Zoom gear set I've had for years.

use of spool should be mandatory for drag only and with that hp.if you have to push it,put rollers under rear tires, works fine in driveways etc.
