Rocker arm shaft strength ?

need some input on rocker arm shafts . how strong are stock shafts when using the billet stands with end supports ? Is there a limit on lift , rpm  ?

On my 390 stroker dyno mule I used the stock shafts with Precision Oil Pumps stands, and ran the Comp 306S solid cam to 7000 RPM during many, many dyno pulls.  Never had an issue.  Springs were Comp 930s set up with 150# on the seat and 360# open.  In my opinion the end stands really help.

Helps a ton. I drove a solid roller on the streets for years as a daily driver. Seat was about 150~175lbs and a little more then 400 over the nose. About 6G's. Ran for years with Comp Roller Rockers, stock shafts with FPP End supports.  JMHO

Didn't use roller rockers on that engine, used stock Ford adjustable rockers.

I know Jay said not to use Roller Rockers.... But I would! Stock is 1.73 ratio and most aftermarket rockers are 1.76 ratio. Adds a little more lift. I always felt it was good insurance to have. I ran a small solid roller cam 565 lift & duration 228 & 234 on a 110 LC.

 I broke a ball off the adjuster.... Yes they where factory Ford stock adjustable rockers. So I bought a set of Comps! Never a problem and no wear on the valves, unlike the stock rockers did. You dont have too but I always will! Your money... Your choice. JMHO

yeah im going to buy the comp billet stands with end supports and go with roller rocker s for sure , im going with a solid cam just need to decide which one , leaning towards that comp  240/ 246 @ .50  - .598 .608 on the lift . thanks again ..

Nothing wrong with using aftermarket roller rockers, of course.  The original 390 stroker engine I mentioned earlier in the thread was for the Car Craft article back in 2008, and it was a low budget build, so I wanted to use the stock rocker arms to save costs.  My point was that the stock adjustable rockers (and shafts) will work if you have a set and don't want to buy aftermarket roller rockers.  Also FYI stock FE adjustable rockers are 1.76:1 for the ratio, just like the aftermarket rockers.  The non-adjustable factory rockers are the 1.73:1 ratio.
