Something to consider when buying a high dollar carburetor

Right now I have my QuickFuel 1050 apart chasing a bad idle issue and look what I found.....Proform. Niiiice.  Not saying Proform stuff is bad...or good. Just not what I expected from a (for me) big money carburetor.

I believe Holley owns QFT now so who knows what you get. Proform a cheap Chinese source for carb bodies and other parts.

I guess we’re back to finding dust covered, back of the shelf and fix it carburetors.  There’s some dominators on offer up near my house?

That's kinda funny, I ordered a 750 annular Proform main body a couple years ago to build one from scratch and it had QFT where yours says Proform. Not surprising, they have been partnered for a while now....I never trust anything out of the box, so I surfaced all the faces of the main body to get them flat and smooth and gave it the usual blueprinting with thread chasing, chamfering etc. I was a little surprised I used a billet baseplate from Allstate, the Proform main body, leftover billet metering blocks from a Demon, Proform bowls, and all the other needed hardware from Allstate. I even used the main jets supplied with the main body and found they were spot on for me. Couldn't have been more happy how well it ran for a mix of parts.

Correct, Holley owns QFT, Proform, and many others, now. Proform were cast in China and then machined by Quick Fuel in Bowling Green. I don't know now that Holley owns them all. They might've outsourced everything now. Proform was good bang for the buck...

That pic was on the secondary side. The primary side has Quick Fuels logo on it. I never realized they were collaborating.

Build a couple of carbs with "Proform" centers and QFT blocks and bowls.  All ran perfectly well.

Not  new thing.  QF used Proform parts a decade ago if I recall.

Speaking of looks different and who’s using what, I have the Quick fuels from Barry and the bowls are square instead of the usual Holley bowl do they have different bowl baskets for them or are they all the same.
