Home Depot now handles Lexan.

I started with the Y-blocks in the 60s, then to the FE (all flavors). ran the same 289 in the brackets for 10 years or so, now back to y- block, with a supercharger.

Private Classifieds / FE fenderwell headers
« on: May 10, 2020, 06:30:51 PM »
custom made by "Headers by Ed" in the sixties to fit a MEL engine into a 55/56 Ford
they were used a short time and then hung in the rafters until I bought them in 2012.
I replaced the mount flange with a FE flange and modified the pipes to fit, (not much difference though). I have run these on my 56 gasser till now. there are many battle scars, welds and blemishes but still have life left in them.
equal length 1 7/8 tubes, 3" collectors
my first choice is to work a trade for a pair of cast aluminum y-block valve covers,

FE Technical Forum / Re: potential engine damage with broken rocker.

Biggest fear with broken rocker, if running pressure fed lifters, is the lifter jumping out of its bore and oil pressure then drops to zero at high rpm, pick up the pieces, ask me how I know

When welding on a drag link was necessary on the gasser build and now on the Bronco build, I have the part annealed at a metallurgy shop and de-stressed. did not cost too much and I sleep better. 7 years of use on the gasser and no problem, also passed IHRA tech inspect. I used Flame Metals Processing Corp. in Rogers, Mn. they provided a grain structure and brinell test results b4 and after.

I highly recommend open tracker rollerized front suspension parts for the 66/7 fairlanes.
used those parts on both my R-code and my drag car, greatly improved traction/ weight transfer

my comparison was on a 482 w/ iron big F heads, 13:1, factory BU/BT carbs, 600/625 cam w/shell flat tappets, dove rockers, no electronics (nostalgia build)
625hp/590 tq on jay,s dyno originally, (been refreshed since dyno pulls)
10.5x with TW, 10.7x - 10.8x w/ MR in 3300# 56 Ford gasser

at the drag strip the ET is the only number that matters. I have run both the ford MR and the ford TW on my FE, TW IS .2 TO .3 FASTER in quarter mile and .02 in 60 ft.
